Swindell was referring to new NRA president, James W. Porter Jr., who he believes is not interested in compromise or bringing in support from Republicans to pass future legislation

He then called for people who don’t support the NRA to “talk common sense” in upcoming elections.

“The 85 percent who support more robust background checks," Swindell said. "And when the next domestic terrorist with an assault rifle comes along, we can blame the leaders and fringe of the NRA for arming them.”
