"When guns are outlawed, ..."

Presumably when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will continue killing people with knives and other edged weapons. And the good guys will no longer have guns to protect themselves and families. WOODLAND, Calif. (KCRA) —An 18-year-old man was convicted by a Yolo County jury of stabbing six people during a girl's birthday party, Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig said in a press release.

Daniel Portugal was convicted of one count of mayhem and six counts of assault with a deadly weapon, in addition to several allegations of personal infliction of great bodily injury, officials said. The jury hung on three allegations of great bodily injury.

Portugal stabbed six people in October at the town hall in Madison, located 11 miles west of Woodland, and was arrested near the venue.

The mass stabbing happened about 10:30 p.m. during an quinceanera at the Town Hall, according to court records. The victims, all adults, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Portugal faces up to 16 years in state prison for the vicious, random attacks, officials said. Sentencing is scheduled for May 10.
