Police: Gun stolen from courthouse after it was left in men's room

Police in Derry on Tuesday were searching for a gun that was stolen after a court security officer accidentally left it in the men's room.

Officials said the gun was left in the men's bathroom at Derry Circuit Court on Monday.

"About 10:30 in the morning, we received a phone call from Derry Circuit Court," said Capt. Vern Thomas. "They were concerned about a firearm that was missing over there."

Court officials said the missing firearm belongs to a veteran court security officer who had his weapon at the beginning of his shift, but at 10:30 a.m., he realized it was gone.

The new Army manual, known as ATP 3-39.33, provides discussion and techniques about civil disturbances and crowd control operations that occur in the continental United States (CONUS) and outside the continental United States (OCONUS).

The consequences of ATP 39.33 could prove deadly for protesters. Further, the provisions of this Army manual could prove to be the end of the First Amendment right to assemble peaceably.

Ruling goes against boy in 'the Pop-Tart case'

A hearing examiner has affirmed the suspension of a Maryland boy who chewed his breakfast pastry into the shape of a gun.

The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/TyXelM) reports that hearing examiner Andrew Nussbaum supported a principal's assertion that the suspension was based on a history of problems, not the pastry episode some refer to as "the Pop-Tart case." Nussbaum's 30-page opinion is dated June 26.

The incident took place last year when the Anne Arundel County boy was 7 years old.

Judge: No-fly list violates constitutional rights

The U.S. government offers no adequate method for people to challenge their placement on its no-fly list, a federal judge ruled Tuesday in a case involving 13 Muslims who believe they're on the list.

U.S. District Court Judge Anna Brown found people lack a meaningful way to challenge their placement on the list, which bars them from flying to or within the United States. She also said the 13 people who sued the government have been unconstitutionally deprived of their right to fly.
